The illustrated front cover of the illustrated first monthly part bound in (April 4, 1840), followed by vi, 306; 306; 426 pages; profusely illustrated with hundred's of engraved illustrations, mostly drawings by George Cattermole and Hablot Knight Browne (with one each by Samuel Williams and Daniel Maclise). Three quarter red morocco over red linen, 5 raised bands, gilt lettering and decoration on spine. Corners bumped, covers rubbed, some spotting to first and last 20pp., else generally Good. No bookplates, no pen markings. Laid in is a 4pp. announcement for "Life & Adventures of Nicolas Nickleby."
